It seems like there are a lot of people worrying these days. Even if they’re not naturally prone to worrying, they can find something in the world to worry about. It’s not necessary to go through a litany of things that seem worrisome. You can create a list in less than a minute. But is there some alternative to this recital of all the possible negative things that can and might happen? Is there another way?

Yes, there’s more than one alternative. And here’s the first: Recognize that when you worry, you’re projecting your negative thoughts onto the future. You’re creating the worst possible scenario. You’re painting pictures with a shadowy paintbrush. This recognition is your acknowledgement that you have some responsibility in this matter and that there is some choice here. Take a look at your negative projections. Seeing that there’s another possibility and that you can take an alternate point of view if you like is an important step in shifting your worrying mind.

Next, tell yourself to think about what you want instead of what you don’t want. See that when you worry, you’re making a mental list of what you don’t want. And since your mind is electromagnetic in its very nature, it attracts what it thinks about. So decide to think about what you want instead.

Then you can create in your mind or write down new projected pictures that are life-fulfilling and positive, even if you feel at a given moment that they may be difficult or impossible. Think new projections anyway, and shift your thinking onto another level. Think about, write about, record it or put it on your computer – the thoughts, feelings, images, projections of what might be possible if and when everything goes well for you.

Next, here’s a fascinating idea from a man named Noah St. John. He changed the word “affirmations” into “afformations” and decided to express what he wanted in the form of questions. It goes like this “Why am I so rich, happy, loving, loved? – Or whatever words express what you’d like to see in your life. “Why do I receive so much good luck?” “Why is my life getting better and better every day?” You phrase these the way you’d like to phrase them for yourself. Noah says that the brain likes and responds to questions. Try it. These “afformations” can help you to feel very expanded and uplifted.

Another way to work with your worries is to find a part of yourself that habitually feels doubt, insecurity, and worry. Imagine going over to that part of yourself and perhaps putting your arm around him or her no matter how old that part of yourself might be. Then you reassure that part that it’s okay, that everything’s okay, and that vast improvement is coming now. Then you watch that part grow courageous and confident and integrated with who you are now.

It also always helps to work with your breathing. Breathe in deep breaths, and bring those breaths into your worries. Then exhale and as you do, exhale them into the universe as you transform the way you’re feeling.

Here’s a major question you can ask yourself: “What would my Wise Mind tell me about this situation?” Your Wise Mind is the part of you that knows the answers and has great wisdom. If it’s something positive, you know it’s coming from this source of wisdom, and you can listen to it telling you the truth.

Tell yourself comforting positive things like:
‘Everything will work out for me. It always does.
‘This may be a challenge, but tough times don’t last.
‘Everything will be fine in the end.
‘I don’t know how this will be solved, but I know it will.
‘I think about what I want and not what I don’t want.
‘I’m grateful, and I think grateful thoughts.

Your mind can always be transformed if you look upward and don’t dwell on the difficult things. There’s such thing as faith, and when you cultivate it, you can open yourself to miracles and expanded possibilities that are waiting to be seen.

You already know that suggestion is powerful, but most people don’t know the full extent of its influence. This includes autosuggestion in which you make suggestions or affirmations to yourself, or it can be about others making suggestions to you. Suggestion happens with words repeated over and over, with deep emotions, with mental pictures, and especially with “belief.” It’s very potent, and we haven’t even fathomed the extent of the law of suggestion in our world and in history. Let’s take a look at all this and what  it means for you.

Proof of Its Power

The power of suggestion is significant in politics. Certain politicians are highly influential and seem to “hypnotize” people into believing what they tell them to believe. They use language to appeal to the subconscious mind, and they have the power of influence. This power is also significant in advertising, in which persuasion has a hypnotic effect on many susceptible people. Likewise, in history, many demagogues and other leaders have used suggestion for power. Look at Hitler and Stalin and others who’ve repeated slogans over and over as their beliefs took hold in the subconscious minds of the masses. In religion, the power of suggestion is great as well. Parents and other influential adults have made suggestions about their world view to their children and their students. And the beliefs have taken hold. The same goes for sports, business, and education. The power of suggestion works to create healing as well.

Repetition of Words

Words repeated over and over can be readily accepted by the subconscious mind -  especially as the conscious or everyday mind is made quiet. Chants or mantras or rituals can make the conscious mind almost drowsy so the subconscious mind will more readily accept suggestions. Through this process, you create “belief,” and belief has a potent effect on the deep inner mind as well.  Then emotions enter the picture and mental images. When something is accepted as possible and these other factors are present, changes in behavior can take place.

Healing with Suggestion

When belief, mental pictures, repeated words, and deep emotions exist, healing is possible. A true shift in circumstances can take place. Hypnosis relaxes the conscious mind so that  the subconscious mind can receive the messages of shifts and changes to come, and anything then becomes possible. You can create new pathways in the brain, neural pathways, containing information about new behaviors that will make any changes you’d like. You  just need to relax the conscious mind, repeat the information, amplify the process with mental pictures and positive emotional states, and you can  make powerful changes.

The Superconscious Mind

You can also involve the Superconscious Mind, the spiritual self, in this process, bringing in love, wisdom, and healing power. In this case, you super-charge the healing process and create what seem to be miracles. They can be miraculous, and they are also events that can be understood by examining our true inner powers.

When you look at your emotions, you may notice that your feelings are most often created by your thoughts. You might notice that your emotions are often habit patterns – especially old, old patterns that have, in a way, been ruling you.

Notice this also: that the feelings that are obstacles are most often victim feelings – fears, worries, self-doubts, – feelings that something will overpower you in some way. These feelings, quite the opposite of courage and strength, are ones that attract what you don’t want into your life and not what you’d like.

Feelings Have Vibrations

It’s great to be able to determine what emotions are going to be uppermost in your life. Not only do your thoughts send out vibrations, but so do your emotions. And the higher the quality of your feelings, the more you’re able to send out clear emotions. Feelings of love, appreciation, joy, peace – all of these reflect the universal self more than anger, fear, or gloom. And this higher vibration becomes a better vehicle or highway for transmissions of positive energy to take place.

What if You Don’t Feel Good?

But what if you don’t feel good? What if you feel anger or fear or grief? Do your feelings go up and down all day long? If so, you might be an emotionally-centered person, and you might register in your emotions every up and down in your circumstances. Maybe you imagine that you’re less than, victimized and downtrodden.. It’s an old habit of mind. Do you know that you’re making it all up? Those are old stories of your old familiar feelings, stories that you learned to tell yourself when you were very young. They’re not the truth about who you are as a powerful person.

Paying Attention to Your Feelings

When you’re transforming your feelings, it’s good to first pay attention to what they are, as they are often giving you messages. Often they’re showing you what you don’t want in your life, and they give you the opportunity to see more clearly what you DO want. Then you find ways to release your feelings. There are many ways to do this when you’re ready. The last step is about transforming your feelings.

No need to ignore your feelings. Pay attention to them. Describe them. But don’t wallow in them. Feel them and watch them at the same time. Envision the best for yourself and wish well for others. Feel and think about what you want and not about what you don’t want. It’s always within your power to feel better.

Transforming Your Feelings

One of the best ways to transform your feelings is to tap into the wise part of yourself. It will give you a different perspective, and it will uplift you. You can transform the old stories you’ve been telling yourself as if you had a magic wand. In fact, you do have a magic wand – your wisdom – that is showing you the truth. Let the old stories disappear as you realize that you’re a talented, worthy person, that you have everything you need to bring your dreams into fruition, that you have awareness and higher consciousness at the core of yourself. All you need to do is remember.

Remember that fear is about projecting negative thoughts and feelings onto the future. So is worry, a cousin of fear. Envy is a way of devaluing yourself. Though anger sometimes feels like power, it often comes from feeling diminished. Remember that when you feel the feelings, you’re not seeing everything there is to see. You could have faith and trust. You could have patience and courage. You get to choose.

Law of Attraction - Send and Receive Empowering Thought Waves

You can transmit actual thought waves that can create abundance and healing power. Most people don’t understand this, but most people don’t have any idea how their cell phone or TV transmits energy either, and yet everyone knows it’s so. Guided visualizations can create remarkable results. They use the extraordinary powers of the inner mind to create significant life shifts in healing, relaxation, and success.  They affect parts of the brain and mind that respond to suggestions and send out frequencies to alter the circumstances of life. Not everyone, of course, can visualize. Some people hear things; others feel them. Still others think about them. Whatever ways that people receive information is fine, a long as they’re informed that they might not receive a guided visualization with inner visions. Any way of receiving the message will work.

Special Kinds of Visualizations

What follows are some stories that form the basis of powerful visualizations that you can do with yourself or others. One visualization about Lily Pads is to enhance a sense of confidence. The Theater of Your Soul visualization is to give you a sense of your greatest self. The next one about Meeting Your Guide gets you in touch with inner guidance.  The others are about Inner Light and Deep Peace.

Delivering the Visualizations

Do an induction or deep relaxation first. I like counting numbers backwards and suggesting relaxation of body and mind. Make sure you do this first when you deliver the guided visualizations, as you need to prepare yourself and others to receive the visualization’s message. Deliver the material slowly, and use a peaceful voice. I like to avoid the words “I want you to,” and say more gentle words, such as “Just let yourself…” or “Just go ahead and…” Then you can begin.

The Lily Pad Visualization for Confidence

Here’s a visualization to surround yourself with the great things you’ve done.

“You’re in a fantastic castle looking down from a high tower. The day is balmy, and you can see everything with great clarity. You feel a sense of expectancy as you look down and see a moat surrounding the castle. The water is a pristine blue, and there are waves created by the breeze. Floating on the water are lily pads, one after another. You feel a sense of awe as you see an image sitting on one of the lily pads, floating by one slowly and gracefully.

“On the first lily pad is a replica of something in which you’ve succeeded in your life, something that is one of your achievements, no matter how large or small. You take it in and acknowledge it. Then another lily pad floats by on the water of the moat, and you find another replica of something that you’ve done or been in your life that’s been successful and joyful. Then a third lily pad floats before you, and on this one as well is something that you’ve done well. Now a fourth one, with yet again a replica of something that is favorable for you. Now a fifth and last accomplishment floats by on the last lily pad.

“Now see if there’s a word or a phrase that symbolizes how you feel about these successes, and you say the word to yourself, anchoring it by pressing your thumb together with your index finger. Each time you say this word and press your thumb and finger together, you experience these good feelings again, and you reinforce your great feelings about yourself. You know of course, that you need nothing external to prove your worth. You’re already worthy in the very essence of yourself. This visualization just helps you to remember.”

The Theater of Your Soul to Experience Your Greatest Self

Do you have a dream and a purpose to fulfill? Are you looking for yours? Do you know what in you is beyond the ordinary?

“Just imagine for a moment that you’re walking into a theater, and you sit down in the audience. Now, this is no ordinary theater. It’s The Theater of the Soul – so you know it’s going to be a special production today as you sit in the audience and look out at the curtains. These, of course, are no ordinary curtains either. They’re your most powerful color, and they’re made of fabric that you love.

“It’s almost show time, so you feel a sense of anticipation as you’re waiting for the curtains to rise. Now the lights begin to dim, some music (that you love, of course) begins to play, and the curtains begin to reveal what’s onstage. Lo and behold, you see yourself on the stage, looking and feeling exuberant and radiant. You’re getting ready to do your own presentation. You see yourself dressed in clothes you love, and you’re ready now to do what you came here to do onstage.

“Here you are doing, being and having what you know you came here for. What does it look like? What does it feel like? Are there any words that express this? Any feelings in you? What is your body like? Experience yourself as fully present in this moment, in your greatness, making your contribution to the world.

“Is there a word or phrase that can symbolize this? See if one comes up from deeply within yourself, and then put your thumb together with your index finger, as you say this word or phrase to yourself. This empowers you and anchors the state of greatness within your being.

“Now take a moment to imagine one thing that you can do now that would express your greatness, one small shift you can make in your life that will take your journey to a new level.”

 Meeting Your Inner Guide or Healer

Meeting your guide or healer is often a revelation, leading you deeply into your guidance and healing power.
 
“Imagine yourself walking through a wooded area or in a magnificent garden or on a sandy beach. You begin to walk and come upon a cave. Because you have curiosity, you peer into the opening of the cave, and you spot a being inside who’s friendly and inviting. He or she invites you to come in (or comes to the opening of the cave) and tells you that he or she is a special emissary of the Wise Mind who wishes to give you some wisdom and understanding to bring light to your life. You listen and find out some wisdom for your life. Your guide may also offer healing power to you. You follow his or her instructions and heal your body and your mind.”

Experiencing the Inner Light

The light is within you to heal, comfort, and enlighten. It’s always good to experience it.

“Imagine yourself with light all around you. Just imagine now that you’re able to make contact with light in one of its forms. You may see it or feel it or think about it or just know it’s there. You can allow this light to beam upon you. Now you may want to imagine that the light is beaming from you – from your heart, solar plexus, or the center of your forehead. You may imagine yourself surrounded in light, bathed in illuminating light rays. The light can be strong or gentle. It can melt away any difficulties of your body or mind. It has profound healing power.

“The light can heal any part of you inside that needs to be healed. If you have any type of ailment in your body or mind, you can just allow it to be bathed in light. If you have any discomforts, they can be infused with light rays. You can also send the light to another. If you like, you can send light to someone who has passed to the other side. Within you is brilliant light, and it radiates a higher peaceful vibration. Imagine yourself transformed positively by this higher vibration.”

Knowing Deep Peace

There is peace at the very core of you. When you relax enough, you can find it.

“Allow yourself to experience your breathing by paying close attention to its flow. Your breath moves in and your breath moves out, and you understand that this is also the flow of the universe. Your breath is the energy of the universe, and you are the energy of the universe. You understand this as you take the time now to dive into the center of yourself, where there is pure peace. You can go to the core of the Self, the still point of the inner world, the place that is the beginning and end of all healing and transformation.
This experience of peace may be without words or pictures or sounds. Or it may bring forth images or words or sounds that evoke this deep experience in you. You can experience the total stillness and quiet that lives at the center of your true nature.
This is a sanctuary in your soul.”

The Great Power of Inner Visualization

You can transform anything in your life from the inside out. When you meditate, visualize and do hypnosis, you are transmitting frequencies that are picked up by physical matter. You affect matter and make significant shifts in your life and in the lives of others. Keep on doing it, and you will have and become what you’d like. Your dreams and wishes will be fulfilled.

Do you believe that everything happens for a reason, even if you can’t see why at the time? Do you sense that there is divine purpose in the universe?  Or is everything happening at random? Or, in another sense, do thoughts create everything that’s taking place? 
 
According to Divine Order, everything is unfolding as it needs to unfold for reasons which you may or may not understand. There is a truth that’s higher and deeper than your everyday mind can fathom.  And if you wait long enough, you’ll find out the deeper meanings about why things are happening.
 
 On the other hand, according to the Law of Attraction, thoughts have created the current reality. And, according to A Course in Miracles and many other sacred texts, there just seems to be a reality in what’s happening, but everything is just an illusion, and the only truth is in the One spirit. 
 
Take the Case of Haiti
 
Haiti is a case in point. Is there a divine purpose being served here? Our creative imaginations will find many “reasons” for the huge challenges taking place, but you may need to wait to find the real meaning of it all. The trick is being able to have compassion and deep feeling while at the same time being able to leap into the state of the witness as you watch it all unfold.
 
Maybe that’s part of the world transformation that’s taking place – that through these huge challenges, hearts are being opened exponentially. Maybe we’re supposed to join together in closer communities and share our lives in a greater sense. And maybe that’s the real meaning of social networking – that we’re coming together more closely than ever before. Maybe with the challenges on  our planet, becoming close with one another is one of the greatest methods of survival that we could imagine.

Someone once said, “If you want to make God laugh, tell him your plans!” Do you believe this – that there is a destiny that shapes our ends – or can you exert your will in shaping the direction of your life? This one area of immense controversy, and there are points of view on both sides. What do the laws of karma tell us about this?

What Dustin Hoffman and Bob Dylan Say about It

Dustin Hoffman, discussing how he got the movie role in “The Graduate” said, “So much of this is not in your hands. My plan to be an obscure artist wasn’t working out.” The singer Bob Dylan said once in an interview that he knew he was destined to become a music legend. He said, “I was heading for the fantastic lights. Destiny was looking right at me .” His success has lasted a long time, and about that, he says: “It goes back to that Destiny thing. I made a bargain with it, you know, a long time ago – with the Chief Commander, in this earth and in the world we can’t see.”

The Law of Karma

The Law of Karma is the law of cause and effect, as in “as you sow, so shall you reap.” Karma is the result of your actions in the past, which come to bear upon your experiences of the present. Some philosophers believe that we are run partly by free will and partly by destiny. The circumstances of your birth – parents, nationality, geographical place, temperament – all are determined (and possibly determined by the kind of “bargain” that Bob Dylan said he made with the “Chief Commander.”) Yet many philosophers say that we have the power to control our actions, that our conscious efforts make a difference, and that we can create shifts in our destiny accordingly.

Shaping Your Future with a Vision Board

If you’re one who believes that we have power to decide what takes place in our lives, you can work with a “vision board.” In the movie “The Secret,” John Assoraf spoke about one that he made in which he cut out pictures of what he’d like to manifest in his life, and he looked at it every day, getting in a state of mind of already acquiring it. After five years and several moves to new living places, his vision board packed away for a while, he looked again at the board, and tears came to his eyes. He was moved and shocked that the home he had envisioned, he was now living in. He feels deep in his heart that imagination is the key, that it is the preview of life’s “coming attractions.”

The Ultimate Truth

Ultimately, “it is what it is.” This points to the ineffable unknowable, the truth that your truth is the truth for you. You hold your own truth to be self evident, and because it is your ground of being, it is unarguably what is so. You can then make your vision board and “create your own reality” while at the same time, your friend can bow to the inevitable laws of karma and destiny. Perhaps the great truth here is that both realities are true, and you hold the key to understanding by knowing the power of your own reality.

So many people get discouraged when they pick up a cigarette again after stopping, or they eat a Hostess Twinkie when they’ve committed themselves to spinach and apples, or they take another sip of that drink they’d said goodbye to. And so many people are hard on themselves and call it a failure. “There I go again,” they say. “I’ll never make it.” But what if this is normal and really okay? Read on to find out why and how you can use it to your advantage.

Sometimes a Setback is a Message

Sometimes it’s a message that you have something more to learn from the food or substance and the habit. If, instead of castigating yourself for what you perceive as failure, you instead say, “What is it I have to learn from this?” You might find that there’s a particular thought or feeling that’s a trigger for you. Perhaps there’s something in your life that’s a stress-producer, so you take another bit of the old substance because you’re intending to alleviate the stress. Instead of feeling like a failure, take a look at what’s stressing you. Take a deep breath in, as breathing is an amazing healing tool. It changes the chemistry of your stress. Then ask yourself if you can let go of this problem. Keep asking yourself this question, and see if it’s possible to go to another level of yourself where the solution to the problem appears as if by magic – or the problem dissolves as you breathe.

Instead of Feeling Like a Failure, Consider Divine Timing

You may or may not believe in this, but it’s a long-held understanding by many people. It’s the sense that everything is on a divine schedule, and the perfect time makes itself known to you. You may feel it strongly inside, perhaps in your “gut.” That may be the moment you can say to yourself, “I’ve had it, and I know I’ll never do that again.” Up until that time, all attempts are rehearsals to get you there. They have their own importance, and they are certainly not failures.

All Previous Attempts are Steps Along the Way

There are no wasted moments, no failures – just steps in the passage of life transformation. Some of those steps feel like you’ve won the Academy Award. Other steps feel like you’ve tumbled to the ground. But all of these are valuable. A reporter asked Thomas Edison how it felt to fail1,000 times, as Edison had made 1,000 unsuccessful attempts at inventing the light bulb. Edison said to the reporter, “I didn’t fail 1,000 times. The light bulb was an invention with 1,000 steps.” Let that be the same for you.

Release Techniques

The Wise Mind Process

1) Pay attention to what’s going on inside.  Describe it to yourself.

2) Take a deep breath in, and breathe deeply into whatever you’re experiencing.
    As you breathe out, disperse it. Break it up into tiny molecules, and release it.
    Do this as many times as you like.

3) Ask your Wise Mind what it would like to tell you about this.

4) Imagine yourself as you’d like to be. Then, find a word or phrase that symbolizes the healing of the experience or issue. Put your thumb together with your index finger, and say your word or phrase.

    Check to see how you feel, and see if there’s anything else you need to pay
         attention to. You can do the process again and also ask yourself if there is anything  else you need to do to heal this issue. Do this process as often as you like at any time.

Ask yourself these questions about anything that’s going on in your life, and answer them:
Would you like to pay attention to it?
Could you accept it for now?
Would you let go of it?
Would you let go of it more?
Could you let go?
When would you like to release it?

The Feeling Good Technique

“I choose to feel good now.”
